2019 Girls & Young Women’s Empowerment Conference

A fantastic, FREE opportunity for girls ages 10 to 18 and their parents/guardians. The Chesapeake Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office will hold its 12th Girls & Young Women’s Empowerment Conference this month! 

Where: Oscar Smith Middle School 2500 Rodgers St, Chesapeake, VA 

When: Saturday, February 9, 2019 from 8:30am-1:30pm

Cost: Free and open to the public. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Registration: Registration for this event is free and open to the public, but you MUST register by Tuesday, January 22, 2019. No walk-ins will be allowed. All youth attendees MUST wear athletic shoes. DOWNLOAD REGISTRATION FORM AND AGENDA HERE.

Description: The theme of the conference is “Build an Unbreakable You!” and will feature workshops for girls ages 10-13, 14-18, and adult sessions. Workshops for girls will provide information on paying attention to your surroundings to ensure safety, building leadership skills and being responsible with money. Adult workshops will offer tips on ways to limit the negative effects on children from excessive social media use and suggestions on preparing healthy, family-friendly meals on a budget. The conference will also feature a workshop for all attendees focused on the impact of opioid abuse on individuals and their families.
