Date Night Idea: FlickIt! Friday at Naro Theater – Little Shop of Horrors

 
Where: Naro Theater, 1507 Colley Ave, Norfolk VA

Description: It started as a 1960 Roger Corman horror comedy, filmed in two days; it then inspired a lavish 1982 Broadway musical with music and lyrics by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman. Finally in 1986, “Little Shop of Horrors” graduated into a multimillion-dollar, all-star film musical.

Meek flower shop assistant Seymour (Rick Moranis) pines for co-worker Audrey (Ellen Greene). During a total eclipse, he discovers an unusual plant he names Audrey II, which feeds only on human flesh and blood. The growing plant attracts a great deal of business for the previously struggling store. After Seymour feeds Audrey’s boyfriend, Orin (Steve Martin), to the plant after Orin’s accidental death, he must come up with more bodies for the increasingly bloodthirsty plant. About FlickIt! Fridays: Each month Naro Cinema partners up with a local non-profit to bring a beloved Cult Classic back to the big screen for a night of pure nostalgic enjoyment. In addition to their usual delicious Naro Cinema concessions, the chosen non-profit will be selling local brews with all proceeds going to support their cause. Non-profits and local sponsors rotate each month to spread the love as much as possible.
