CANJunction – A Youth Art Competition and Festival

Another opportunity for #757 youth artists and performers! Calling all middle and high school artists, performers, creatives, designers, spoken word poets, writers, musicians, dancers, makers (and more)!

Where: Hampton Roads, Virginia

When: The deadline to apply is April 1, 2022. The Festival and Competition will take place on May 29, 2022. Select artists will also be invited to exhibit their work in the Hilton Art Walk, taking place June 4, 2022, from 11am – 5pm.

The CAN Foundation presents CANJunction, a youth art competition and festival. The multi-city competition and festival seeks to highlight, unify, and develop the creative talent of the youth of Hampton Roads.

Middle and High Schoolers from the cities of Hampton Roads are invited to submit artwork, clothing designs, or participate by performance in a festival and competition to take place in May. The exhibition and festival will occur in a number of locations throughout Hampton Roads, including the Contemporary Arts Network headquarters. The competition will be judged based on genre by professionals who work or participate in each field.

There will be awards for second and first place winners for each genre of art.  Prizes include, but are not limited to:

  • Paid performance opportunities
  • A mentoring session with professionals specific to the winner’s genre of art
  • Prize packages
