Attention Hampton Roads Businesses! The Consortium for Infant and Child Health (CINCH) is looking for employers in the South Hampton Roads area who are interested in developing or enhancing worksite lactation support programs. If interested contact: Charley Martin at [email protected].

Background: In 2011 the Consortium for Infant and Child Health (CINCH) at Eastern Virginia Medical School successfully implemented the Business Case for Breastfeeding project with employers in South Hampton Roads. CINCH is hoping to expand this successful program and provide information and technical assistance to a limited number of additional employers looking to develop or enhance worksite lactation support programs.

Worksite lactation support programs are a win-win situation for employee and employer. Breastfeeding has MANY health benefits for both mother and baby and supporting breastfeeding employees result in lower medical costs and health insurance claims for employers. Worksite lactation support programs have also been shown to decrease turnover and absenteeism while improving productivity and employee morale.
