This Weekend: American Indian Intertribal Powwow

This weekend head up to Jamestown Settlement for an American Indian Intertribal Powwow featuring song and dance by members of American Indian tribes, storytelling and children’s activities.

Where: Jamestown Settlement, 2110 Jamestown Road, Route 31 S, Williamsburg VA

When: Saturday & Sunday, October 7-8, 2017 from 9am-5pm. The Grand Entry will be at 12:30pm each day. Planned activities include:

  • Singing & Dancing: A Grand Entry with a parade of dancers will take place at 12:30 p.m. each day in a dance circle on the museum mall, followed by an afternoon of singing and dancing until 4:30 p.m. 
  • Flute Music: Enjoy performances by Diné flute player Emerson Begay.
  • Storytelling: Grace Ostrum of the Accohannock will present American Indian stories each day of the event.
  • Children’s Activities: Children and families will have the opportunity to make and design their own American Indian rattles.

Cost: Included with admission to Jamestown Settlement which is $17/adults, $8/ages 6 – 12, and children under 6 are free. Residents of James City County, York County and the City of Williamsburg, including College of William and Mary students, receive free admission with proof of residency.
