2024 Hampton Arts Spring Classes and Workshops

Hampton Arts brings exciting new offerings to ignite your child’s creativity. Kids will have the opportunity to participate in performing arts at The American Theatre and visual arts at The Charles H. Taylor Visual Arts Center.

Experienced and professional artists will guide participants through the creative process as they encourage exploration, expression, and originality.

Performing Arts Spring Classes at The American Theatre

A wide variety of classes are offered this spring whether your child is interested in acting, dance, or make-believe, there’s fun to be had for every age group. Below is a preview of the many classes and workshops that will be available this coming spring.

Dance workshops offered include…

Phoebus Dance Workshop – Click Here to Register

Come join Phoebus High School Dance Team Sweet Essence as they teach dances for all skill levels. The theme of this workshop is Dancing Through the Decades. The songs will all be from specific decades including 80’s, 90’s, and 00’s. There will also be a Showcase that afternoon at 2:30 p.m. so parents can see what their kiddos have learned. Participants need to wear athletic clothing and either sneakers or jazz shoes. Everyone also needs to bring water and a sack lunch.

K-Pop Dance Workshop – Click Here to Register

Get ready to groove, dance, and immerse yourself in the electrifying world of K-Pop with our K-Pop Dance Workshop! This workshop is your ticket to learning the latest dance moves, choreography, and style inspired by the hottest K-Pop groups from Seoul. Whether you’re a dedicated K-Pop fan or just looking to have a blast while dancing, this class is perfect for all dance enthusiasts. Participants will learn two dances from our instructor who is a local K-Pop enthusiast. Dances might include ones from popular groups including New Jeans, StrayKids, BlackPink, and BTS to name a few.

Teen Acting 101 – Click Here to Register

This class is for teens who want to do it all! This Teen Acting Class is designed to empower young actors aged 12 to 18 with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to express themselves through the art of acting. Whether your teen dreams of becoming a professional actor or simply wants to explore their creativity and build self-confidence, this class offers a supportive and enriching environment. For those who want to be funny we will be working on improvisation and even a little stand-up comedy. If you are more into dramatic acting we will be doing monologues and scenes. This class will allow students to learn multiple disciplines of acting while having fun with games and exercises.

Visual Arts Spring Classes and Workshops at The Charles H. Taylor Visual Arts Center

Youth Drawing and Painting with Carol Gruppe – Click Here to Register

This class is perfect for children who want to learn how to draw and paint! During the course, your child will learn some basic drawing techniques while exploring different tools including pencils, pastels, and charcoal. They will also explore color mixing and painting techniques using acrylics to paint a still-life masterpiece on canvas with the main focus on having fun!

Introduction to Mixed Media Mosaics with Collette Mann – Click Here to Register

In this dynamic and creative course, you will embark on a captivating journey into the world of mosaic artistry. We’ll explore the fusion of various materials, including glass, ceramics, found objects, and more, to craft intricate and visually stunning mosaic pieces. Students will learn how to prepare their substrate, nip glass, create a design, and complete a mosaic using various materials. Through hands-on instruction and guided projects, you’ll learn the fundamentals of mosaic design, and composition, allowing you to transform everyday materials into captivating works of art.

Artist Book Workshop with Katie Prock – Click Here to Register

The workshop will walk through the process of creating a hand-bound Coptic notebook. Attendees will create custom front and back covers, and an interior text block, and then learn how to bind them together using the Coptic stitch.
