4-H is the youth (ages 5 to 19) development education program of Virginia Cooperative Extension. 4-H is rich with learning experiences where young people partner with caring adults and volunteers in a fellowship unlike any other program available to youth today. During the summer, 4-H offers a range of day and residential (overnight) camps.
757 We Care is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization geared towards promoting positivity to our youth through various community awareness initiatives, career exploration programs and mentorship.
Baby Boy Mentoring Program provides services to young men ages 5 - 17 without a father in their lives. Based in Portsmouth, serving all of Hampton Roads.

We will build a relationship with these young men and show these young men that we care and want to help them achieve greatness. Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, professionally supported matches between adult volunteers (“Bigs”) and children (“Littles”), ages 6 through young adulthood. We develop positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of youth in our communities.
Black BRAND is the Black Chamber of Commerce for Virginia’s Hampton Roads and Dan River Regions. Our mission is to promote group economics through professional development and community empowerment.

Camp HOPE Norfolk is the first summer camp and mentoring program in Virginia for children who have experienced primary or secondary abuse and trauma. This groundbreaking camp, which offers a clinically-proven curriculum designed to help children overcome trauma to lead more hopeful lives, is being offered by the Norfolk Sheriff’s Office in collaboration with the Family Justice Center. Camp HOPE Norfolk is composed of a week of camp, supported by year-round activities.
Children who are eligible are screened through the Family Justice Center, and will attend Camp HOPE Norfolk for free through grants procured through the Norfolk Sheriff’s Office. While this program is based out of Norfolk, it is open to all eligible youth in the Hampton Roads area.
Each year, teenagers who turn 15 on or before June 1 and are still in high school can apply to participate in our Summer Junior Volunteer Program. Returning junior volunteers receive their application information in February, and forms for new applicants are available annually on March 1. The program is divided into multiple sessions, each lasting 2 weeks.
Assignments are available at our main hospital campus in downtown Norfolk, as well as many satellite centers including Virginia Beach, Newport News, Chesapeake, and Suffolk.

Through a unique, four-pronged approach, Envision Lead Grow offers women & girls an opportunity to engage in one-on-one mentoring and training designed to guide them along the path of entrepreneurship. Once girls join the “You Go Girl” program, they can continue growing with us, building wealth through the evolution of a women! ALL OF OUR PROGRAMS ARE FREE!

For 5 days, driven young women from around Hampton Roads will engage in hands-on business building, mentorship from collegiate scholars, and a transformative self-development experience. They’ll leave with new skills, newfound confidence, and a network of empowering, future-focused peers.

This free 5-day sleep away camp is held on the campus of Old Dominion University.
Located in the historic Ghent neighborhood of Norfolk, Virginia, the Fred Heutte Garden is a great place to visit, stroll or volunteer.

Empowering Girls Through Mentorship
Utilizing culturally competent education, resources and mentorship, we support attachment and bonding within the family system in order to reduce involvement with the child welfare system, increase parental confidence and capacity, and produce improved educational and social outcomes for all children.
The Literacy Lab’s Leading Men Fellowship creates opportunities for young men of color and increases representation in the field of education. Leading Men Fellows are young men of color who have recently graduated from high school and participate in a year-long, residency-style experience in which they provide evidence-based literacy support to pre-kindergarten students while receiving robust coaching and professional development and gaining valuable experience.
Non profit organization that sole focus is our youth. Miracles academy was designed to assist to educate, advocate, listen and lead to improve the lives of children with mental illness with day to day activities. We strive to not only assist the youth but their families. We strive to assist the youth to reach their full potential while learning to cope with their mental health on the daily basis. We look forward to setting a foundation , creating a safe space for our youth.
NSTS provides afterschool and full-day summer programs for Norfolk youth (currently ages 13 — 16). Our activities for teens include sailing, boat-building, visual and performing arts, academic support, group projects, character education, STEM-skill development, hands-on field trips, and much more.
We create and implement unique programming for students from underperforming schools and those within known gang & gun conflict zones. Our programs serve those (ages 7-19), who need skill building and are most susceptible to systematic low-income issues. We employ an innovative approach to combat those issues; with our T.R.A.I.N (Targeted Redirection of Anger Issues in Neighborhoods) initiative and skill building initiatives. Partnering our ideas with the city and surrounding businesses will help to leverage resources to create change. As we continue to focus on our mission: skill building, mentoring and mental health; this will lead to success for future generations.
Youth ages 6-17 are paired with positive adult role models who commit to spending several hours per week for at least one year with their mentees with the goal of forming a trusting friendship that helps set the youth on a successful path to adulthood.
Local programming for teens including summer camps for kids in 7th grade+.

Venturing is an inclusive program through the Boy Scouts of America for males and females aged 14-21 (or 13 and completed the 8th grade). It’s operated through Venturing Crews, units of youth and advisors that meet on set schedules and plan activities and events for youth. Providing programs for young people in Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, and Northeastern North Carolina that build character, leadership and citizenship.
Cub Scouts is a year-round program that offers fun activities that promote character and leadership development. Open to boys and girls in grades K-5.
