Writers’ Club at Stryker Center (Williamsburg)
April 19 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
FreeAre you a writer? Whether or not you’re published, you can benefit from this supportive writer’s group. Listen to informative talks on a variety of writing-related topics and meet other writers and aspiring writers. Led by local author/editor Brian Forrester. For ages 13+.
This month’s topic: Focusing on Your Story’s DNA (with Jenny Hansen)
Does your story feel exciting, but you can’t quite grab hold of it? Are you worried about starting strong and then losing your way?
Jenny Hansen, founder of Storytelling for Success and a regular contributor to Writers in the Storm, will show you how to:
• Identify your story’s DNA so every scene pulls in the same direction
• Uncover your protagonist’s misbelief to propel your story forward
• Link inner struggle with outer conflict so tension stays alive and personal
• Use theme and genre as guardrails so scenes feel clear instead of overwhelming
• Apply practical tools to stay focused and keep writing
This free Williamsburg Regional Library workshop is led by Brian Forrester, an award-winning copywriter and the author of two young adult novels. His most recent book is Color The Sky With Song.
