Weekend On Your Wheels Youth Bike Race Series (Williamsburg)

Join us for our Weekend On Your Wheels Youth Bike Race Series. The races will be held at New Quarter Park on select Sundays through May. The youth mountain bike trail offers multiple courses for different abilities. The short course is designed for kids 6 and under who ride push and balance bikes, as well as for elementary/novice (no training wheels) riders. The medium course is designed for elementary/intermediate riders, usually in middle school or ages 11-14. The long course is designed for high school riders ages 14-17. Parents must be present, and helmets are required.Children will be separated by skill level. If this is your child’s first race, we recommend coming to the Pre-Race date to preview the courses and receive assistance from staff. No registration required for the Pre-Race.The fee also includes a number plate.SKILL LEVELPush Bike – 0.2 mi – Balance/tri bike; parents may go on the course with the rider, including the rail and a grassy field.6 & Under – 0.4 mi – 16-inch wheel bikes, usually coaster brakes; parents may go on the course with the rider, trail, and grassy field.Elementary Beginner – 0.4 mi – 16-20 inch wheel BMX or MTB, able to ride independently, proficient in coaster and hand brakes if possible. Trail and grassy field.Intermediate – 0.7 mi – 20-inch wheel, BMX, or MTB. There are more hills. Gears are recommended, but they can be used without. It is mostly trail.Advanced Intermediate – 1.05 mi – More technical and hilly, MTB recommended.Advanced – 2.1 mi – Same trail as Adv. Intermediate, doing 2 laps, needs more endurance.Expert – 5.6 mi – Middle to High School – Technical trail, Advanced riding skills, 24 – 29 inch MTBAdvanced Expert – 7.0 mi – Middle to High School – Technical trail, Advanced riding skills, high endurance, 24 – 29 in. MTB.Unknown – If you do not know your child’s skill level, please attend the Pre-Race date.Pre-ride Skill Date – April 19, 12-3 pmRace Dates:May 3 – Race 1May 10 – Race 2May 31 – Race 3June 7 – RAIN DATE* Race Day Check-inAges 3-17, 12 noon: First race is at 1 pm
