The Art of Historical Interpretation with Nathan Richardson at Hampton History Museum (Hampton)

January 5 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Nathan M. Richardson shares the secrets of his internationally acclaimed interpretation of Frederick Douglass in this 1.5 hour, three part performance and workshop which engages students through demonstration, lecture and discussion.
The workshop explores key aspects of historical interpretation and re-enactments. Students will interact with both the historical character Frederick Douglass and Mr. Richardson, the Understudy to learn his creative process of bringing a character to life.
Everyone will leave with a greater understanding of the creative and business sides of the craft. The curriculum is designed for all levels of proficiency, from the novice to the seasoned; storyteller, actor, interpreter, re-enactor and museum docent.
