The Air Age Comes to Smithfield at Isle of Wight County Museum

November is National Aviation History Month. Join us today as aviation historian Kent Lewis recounts the reports from May 8, 1918, the exciting day when U.S. Army aviators first dropped into Smithfield in their Curtiss JN-4 Jenny, once all of the people and cows were cleared of the landing area. The visit was part of a very successful War Stamp Drive for the towns of Smithfield and Windsor.
