Surviving Through Mental Health at the Attucks Theatre (Norfolk)
July 9 @ 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Norfolk Community Services Board is partnering with Project ORF to bring the community together again for an evening of connection, healing and support in honor of Minority Mental Health Awareness Month with the 3rd Annual Surviving Through Mental Health on July 9, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Attucks Theatre.
This year’s theme is Family Matters: Part 2 and brings a deeper focus on how mental health stressors and triggers can show up across generations, and how to collaborate as a community to bring healing, resilience, support and understanding.
Surviving Through Mental Health features dynamic panel discussions with mental health experts, activists and survivors for real-life, multi-generational conversations about mental wellness. The event includes a fireside chat with state leaders, including State Senator Angelia Williams Graves and Marvin B. Figueroa, Secretary of Health and Human Resources for the Commonwealth of Virginia. WAVY-TV’s Aesia Toliver is emceeing the event and moderating the panel discussions.
Dozens of community mental health and wellness partners will be onsite offering outreach, resources and information. Attendees can also enjoy prizes, raffles, music, food and refreshments (first-come, first served), giveaways and much more!
Individuals, families and friends of all ages are welcome to attend and participate, especially teens and young adults. Surviving Through Mental Health is a free event and registration is preferred but not required.
