Surf the Past and Rethink History (Virginia Beach)
March 1 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Something really special is rolling in.
Stoke Media, in collaboration with Global Surf Network, is hosting a coastal educational afternoon to benefit the Virginia Beach Surf & Rescue Museum on Sunday, March 1, 2026 in Virginia Beach, and this one is shaping up to be a genuinely one-of-a-kind gathering.
We’re excited to welcome Surfer and Historian Scott Dawson of the Croatoan Archeological Society, whose work on the Lost Colony is challenging how a lot of us understand early American history. This isn’t dusty textbook stuff. This is coastal history. Currents, barrier islands, trade routes, and the kind of stories that make you look at the shoreline a little differently.
The response already has me smiling. We’ve got people committed from Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Norfolk, Poquoson, Chesapeake Beach, the North End and South End of VB, Shadowlawn, Pungo, and all the way down from Buxton, Rodanthe, and Nags Head. Surfers in their 20s through their late 60s, which tells me this is exactly the kind of crowd I love being in a room with.
Bring yourself, and any well-behaved human you know 12 and up. We’re in a museum, after all, so let’s all pretend we were raised right and make the exhibits proud.
Call/text Global Surf Network at (757) 633-7445.
