Shifting Sands: A Journey Through Time on this Spit of Land at Fort Monroe (Hampton)

This one-hour tour explores the pre-revolutionary history of Point Comfort and highlights its importance due to its proximity to the waterways. Participants will hear about Indigenous use of the land, the first fortifications and role in colonial trade, culminating in the stories of early freedom seekers. The tour begins at the visitor center and participants will travel on a short path to the inner fort, experience the sights atop the rampart and finish with a guided tour through the Casemate Museum.
FREE hour long, guided walking tour
Moderate activity level, with limited places to sit
