Roots & Rhythm Marketplace (Newport News)

Newport News is bringing the community together this summer in a vibrant new way with the launch of its Roots & Rhythm Marketplace, an exciting open-air experience that blends shopping, live entertainment, local flavor, family activities, and interactive experiences into one unforgettable community event.
Hosted by Newport News Parks and Recreation, the free marketplace series will take place at two locations across the city and will feature an energetic mix of fresh food, handmade goods, food vendors, artisans, crafters, live music, kids’ activities, educational exhibits, make-and-take experiences, and more.
The inaugural marketplace kicks off Friday, June 13, at 10 a.m. at Denbigh Community Center, 15198 Warwick Blvd.
Applications are currently being accepted for farmers, growers, food vendors, makers, artisans, crafters, and community exhibitors interested in participating in this new summer tradition. Vendor applications and participant information are available online.
“This is an exciting concept for Newport News,” said Torrance Archie, Director of Newport News Parks and Recreation, whose department is leading the vision and community partnership efforts behind the marketplace. “We are committed to creating vibrant spaces that bring people together, support local businesses, and strengthen community connection in new and meaningful ways.”
Designed to combine the energy of a community festival with the charm of a local marketplace, Roots & Rhythm Marketplace offers something for everyone, including fresh products, handcrafted goods, music, children’s activities, and engaging community vendors. Admission and parking are free and open to the public.
