Junior Ranger Day (Virginia Beach)

July 13 @ 9:00 am - 2:00 pm

Become a Junior Ranger at False Cape State Park!

Give your child the chance to become a field scientist for the day! This one-day Junior Ranger camp for ages 9-13 takes place at False Cape State Park and features hands-on exploration of both bay and beach ecosystems. Participants will explore wetlands to collect aquatic life and learn about water quality. They will also investigate mock sea turtle nests on the beach by measuring tracks and analyzing clues.

Transportation into the park and all materials are provided. Reservations are required as space is limited to 24 total guests, including responsible adults and participating kids. Each reservation must include a responsible adult who attends with participating children.  Please use this LINK to sign up. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to program start time. All programs depart from Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge, where there is a $5 parking fee.

The program will involve participants wading into Back Bay, so please wear clothes appropriate for water activities and closed toe water shoes. Please plan to bring sunscreen, insect repellent, towels, water, and a bagged lunch. A change of clothes may be helpful for active participants.
