Homeschool Day at the Virginia Living Museum (Newport News)

Join us for a day of engaging, hands-on learning designed especially for homeschool families. From early childhood exploration to behind-the-scenes career experiences, each program offers a unique opportunity to connect with the natural world.
For The Littles: “Underwater”
Time: 9:15am–9:45am
Recommended Ages: 3–5
Join our youngest learners for a special homeschool session featuring a story, hands-on activity, and an ambassador animal encounter. This month, we will explore the ocean and the creatures that live there.
Child: $4 (Member) | $15 (Non-Member)
Adult: Free (Member) | $18 (Non-Member, ticket required)
In the Bay
Time: 10:00am–10:45am (Session 1)
Time: 11:00am–11:45am (Session 2)
Recommended Ages: 6+
Explore one of Virginia’s most important ecosystems, the Chesapeake Bay. Learn about the plants, animals, and environmental factors that make up the bay, why it matters, and how we can help protect it.

The World of Aquariums
Time: 10:30am–12:00pm
Recommended Ages: 12+
Go behind the scenes to explore careers in aquarium science and animal care. Tour aquatic spaces, learn what it takes to care for aquatic animals, and try hands-on water quality testing.
Child: $12 (Member) | $24 (Non-Member)
Adult: One adult may accompany each student with valid museum admission (observational only)
Includes museum admission for participating student
