Heart Shaped Clay Wall Pockets Workshop (Norfolk)

Join us for a special VALENTINE’S DAY workshop at our Dragonfly Loft location! Students will be introduced to the basics of working with and hand-building with clay and will learn basic construction techniques in order to create a unique heart-shaped clay wall pocket plus a bonus trinket dish.
Students will learn the properties of clay in different stages, the purpose of various tools and implements, along with various techniques necessary for constructing their own unique vessel.. We will also touch on how glaze can be applied successfully to achieve various affects.
Students will each receive a complimentary 2-hour Open Studio session at our main Studio at 1511 Colley Ave where they will be able to apply glaze and complete their projects.
Class size limited – No previous experience necessary
STUDENTS WILL LEARN
- How to construct a functional, heart-shaped hanging wall pocket and trinket dish
- Basics of working and hand-building with clay
- Use of tools and implements
- Construction techniques
- Surface design and decoration techniques
- Basics of glaze application and theory
- Students can make TWO WALL POCKETS AND TWO TRINKET DISHES each!
No experience is necessary for this class. Most supplies will be provided.
Age Level: 12 and up. Children 12 through 15 must attend with an adult who is also registered for and taking the class.
