First Art: Stamp and Print at Virginia MOCA (Virginia Beach)

$15 – $20Get inspired by the art on view in our galleries, and work with artist Bria Tyler to create your own colorful, hand-printed stamp collage.
In this class, we’ll look at the artwork Comfort Me as I Learn by artist Nina Doerr and talk about how the places we live and play can shape the things we like, the art we make, and how we feel. Then we’ll head to the studio to make our own stamp collages!
Together, we will experiment with printing on a variety of colored papers and use different types of scissors to trim our prints into fun shapes with unique edges. Finally, we’ll glue our stamped pieces together into one final artwork to take home.
This program encourages creativity, observation, and the development of fine motor skills like cutting, gluing, stamping, and arranging.
A caregiver, parent, or guardian must be present for the duration of this class.
