February Homeschool Day at The Virginia Living Museum (Newport News)

For The Littles: “Frog”
Time: 9:15am-9:45am
Participants: Recommended ages 3-5
Join our special time for the little homeschoolers as we read a story, do an activity, and meet an ambassador animal. This month, we will explore frogs and pond life!
Price: $15 non-member child, $4 member child, $18 non-member adult, free member adult (but must have ticket). Museum admission is included in program cost.
Rivers and Ponds
Time: 10:00am-10:45am (first session), 11:00am-11:45am (second session)
Participants: Recommended ages 6+
Come join us as we explore the habitats of Virginia! This month, we will take a look at Virginia’s rivers and pond life. From frogs and fishes, to birds and mammals, we will learn about the food webs of these habitat spaces, their important connection to other habitats, and how we can protect them.
Price: $15 non-member child, $4 member child, $18 non-member adult, free member adult (but must have ticket). Museum admission is included in program cost.
The World of Animal Husbandry
Time: 10:30am-12:00pm
Participants: Must be 12 or older. Parents may attend, but in an observational capacity only.
Ever wonder what it’s like to work at the Virginia Living Museum? Come explore the various careers that make everything we do possible. This month, we will explore the world of animal husbandry. Students will learn about what goes into caring for our animals, test their knowledge on animal biology, and get an in depth look at our Wild Care Center.
Price: $24 non-member child, $12 member child. One adult may accompany each student, but must have valid museum admission and are participating in an observational capacity only. Museum admission is included in program cost.
Planetarium: Stacey Stormtracker
Time: 11:00am-11:45am
Participants: Recommended 6+
Join ace solar system pilot Stacey Stormtracker as she takes her new Solar System Weather Service cadet recruits on a tour through the solar system to check out the weather on all the planets and even the Sun! Can Stacey keep everything shipshape even during a major hurricane? Come and find out!
Price: $5 non-member child, $4 member child, adults free (but must have ticket). Museum admission is NOT included. This is an add on to museum admission, must purchase admission separately.
