Dedication of the African Landing Memorial Plaza (Hampton)

April 24 @ 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm

The Casemate Museum will close early Friday, April 24th at 3:00pm for the dedication of the African Landing Memorial Plaza. Please join us on the plaza, across from the Old Point Comfort Light, for the dedication ceremony from 3:00 – 6:00 pm. The Visitor Center will remain open to guests until 6:30pm.
As the first completed element of the African Landing Memorial, the plaza focuses on reflection, remembrance, and connection linking the histories of West Central Africa, the transatlantic journey, and the shores of present-day Virginia. Experience a ceremony that encourages you to be involved and connect to the story of the first Africans brought to Virginia in 1619, where it happened.
