Join Virginia Stage Company and the Military Aviation Museum for a special afternoon celebrating the stories, music, and people behind the acclaimed Broadway musical.
Surrounded by aviation history, members of the Come From Away cast will perform two songs from the show, offering a rare sneak peek before performances begin at the Wells Theatre.
Director Tom Quaintance will share more about bringing this remarkable true story to the stage, and Military Aviation Museum docent “Quick Draw,” a former military and commercial pilot, will offer a pilot’s perspective on aviation, service, and the extraordinary circumstances at the heart of the story.
Come From Away tells the true story of what happened when 38 planes carrying nearly 7,000 passengers were diverted to the small town of Gander, Newfoundland, on September 11, 2001. In a moment of fear and uncertainty, ordinary people opened their homes and hearts to thousands of strangers.
It’s a story about aviation. A story about community. And, ultimately, a story about what people are capable of when the world suddenly changes.
