Classical Education Showcase: Classical Composition, Fable Stage at James City County Library (Williamsburg)

April 20 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Free

Experience classical education as presented by Highlands Latin Cottage School Williamsburg, a homeschool hybrid school. Please note the recommended audience for each session, however students of all ages and abilities are encouraged to attend. Each session requires a separate online registration.

This week, experience the Fable Stage of the progymnasmata (Greek for “before exercises”), a classical method of writing. Students will immerse themselves in the fable The Ant and the Chrysalis. This session includes identifying key features of the text, creating an outline, and learning to incorporate figures of description to retell the fable in a student’s own words while preserving the original meaning of the text.

Registration is required; recommended for grades 4-6+.
