Butterfly Society of Virginia Spring Lecture and Annual Meeting (Virginia Beach)

April 19 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm

After almost 7 years, a popular speaker is returning! Sam Jaffe, of The Caterpillar Lab in New Hampshire, will be starting his Meet and Greet one hour early at 1 PM, so join us then!

Join us for our Spring lecture meeting with Sam Jaffe of The Caterpillar Lab! Sam, as well as his photography and videography, was featured in the recently-released documentary “The Extraordinary Caterpillar” along with Doug Tallamy and Dave Wagner… ‘Meet and Greet’ at 1 PM, followed by Sam’s presentation at 2 PM: ‘NATURAL HISTORY DISCOVERY – Uncovering new lepidopteran life histories’

Imagine a meadow in full flower, alive with pollinators and butterflies, or a crowded moth sheet under an ultraviolet light, holding hundreds or thousands of nocturnal insects.  As initially impressive as these scenes are, they represent just the tip of a much larger iceberg – the deep stories and full life histories of creatures that drive the ecological world.
Uncover the hidden stories of these creatures with Sam Jaffe of The Caterpillar Lab and share in some exciting and strange new finds from his work and travels, including numerous never-before-photographed caterpillars and undescribed species from across the eastern United States.  The age of exploration is alive and well – join us to discover a wealth of stories still waiting to be told!
