Winter Break Fun: The Annual Audubon Christmas Bird Count

Audubon’s 124th Christmas Bird Count will take place this winter between the dates of Thursday, December 14, 2023 through Friday, January 5, 2024.

What is the Christmas Bird Count?

The Christmas Bird Count is an early-winter bird census, where thousands of volunteers across the country, and in many other parts of the world, go outside over a 24 hour period on one calendar day to count birds.

Where can you participate?

There are normally planned count events in several #757 locations. Follow THIS LINK to find the event/contact person for the count closest to you.

  • Newport News
  • Suffolk
  • Virginia Beach
  • Williamsburg
  • & surrounding areas

How much does it cost?

Free to participate! This event is conducted by volunteers, including you!
