MyActiveChild – Changes & Updates

MyActiveChild LOGO

Hi Everyone! Thanks for checking in to read this post, there is some general information, plus new updates and changes to MyActiveChild.com that I wanted to let you know about! Thank you to everyone who completed our recent survey, your input is so valuable and I appreciate you taking the time to give your feedback and suggestions!

Some of the information below is NEW, and some is just for clarification on commonly asked questions.

CALENDAR

COLORS: I have had questions about the colors on the calendar listings – there is a different color assigned to each city in the area or type of event.

SORTING: At the top of the calendar you can sort by city, type of activity in some cases (holiday event, storytime, etc), and you can always search for a keyword (ex: Homeschool or Toddler).

ADDING EVENTS: Anyone can add an event to the calendar using the “Suggest Event” button at the top left corner of the calendar. We do review what is submitted to make sure it is a child/family friendly event. If it is for parents only (like a class) it needs to say so in the description.

LINKS: All listings on the calendar should include a link for additional information. Please click through to verify that the event is happening as scheduled, we try to update cancelations that we are aware of, but those links will take you to the original source of the event for verification.

You can check out the Daily Calendar HERE. At this time, Daily is the best way to view the calendar. A monthly option would be helpful, but due to the number of events per day, also completely unreadable.

FACEBOOK

Facebook has recently made some changes that will impact how you see information from Pages in your newsfeed. We still plan to use our Facebook Page, but will be posting less frequently there, and instead will move our regular daily posts (link each morning to the calendar, sharing of all blog posts, giveaways, etc) on our Facebook Group Page.

If you aren’t already a part of our Facebook Group you can hop over and JOIN HERE. At the top of the Group Page you can set your Notifications, it will look like this:

Group Notification settings include:

  • All Posts which will help you stay on top of whatever we post
  • Highlights which gives you a mix of what your friends post in the group and what Facebook thinks you want to see
  • Friends’ Posts which is just what your friends post in the group
  • Off – and of course you can always turn Notifications in any group to Off
A quick reminder that I LOVE having you all post questions and share information in the Facebook Group. Information about FREE Events is always welcome.

If you are promoting your paid event you are welcome to add to the calendar, and/or contact [email protected] about advertising options. Posts about paid events/activities will not be approved in the group. Thanks for your understanding.

EMAIL UPDATES

Some of you love getting our Email Updates every day, and some of you are overwhelmed with an update popping into your inbox that frequently. I totally get it. With that in mind, I have created FIVE different options to try and find your best fit for email updates. You can now subscribe to the following options:

Important – If you are already a subscriber you will need to update your subscriber preferences. When I clicked through to test this, the system told me that it was sending me a verification email for security reasons. Once I clicked that email I was able to select the different options above and update how often I receive the emails.

Clickable Images: Also, someone very appropriately asked if it would be possible to make the images in the email updates clickable. Yes. That has been done, thank you for the suggestion!

***New Subscriber or Current Subscriber, you can get started customizing your email updates from MyActiveChild.com by Clicking HERE.***
