African Landing Day at Fort Monroe

This will be a participatory event for all attendees.  Guests are encouraged to dress comfortably and to wear walking shoes.    Seating will be limited, so please bring folding chairs or blankets and water bottles.

Where: Continental Park, located at the Intersection of Fenwick and Ingalls Road, Fort Monroe

When: Saturday, August 23, 2025 from 9am-1pm

Cost: Free and open to the public.

Description:

🌍 Join us for the African Landing Day event on Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 9 AM to 1 PM at Continental Park, located at the intersection of Fenwick and Ingalls Roads, Fort Monroe, VA!
✨ Get ready for a day filled with meaningful activities and community engagement! We are excited to announce an African Drum and flag parade, a bell ringing ceremony, a flower petal ceremony, a keynote speech by Author and Historian Ric Murphy, and a special address by actor Djimon Hounsou!
👟  Seating will be limited, so be sure to bring your folding chairs or blankets, along with water bottles to stay hydrated.
🍔 Hungry? Food trucks will be available from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM!
