A Tale For Two – VBSPCA Reading Program 2025

Be aware, this program may cause your family to fall in love with a shelter pet! This in-shelter reading program is open to kids ages 6-13. Several dates are available – reserve a date now for upcoming opportunities.

When: Mondays between 4-5pm. Visits must be scheduled in advance, and children are invited to bring their own books or they can choose from the VBSPCA library.  Reading time is limited to 20 minutes.

Description: A Tale for Two is an extension of our Listening Ears Program, which pairs a young reader (ages 6 – 13) with an animal to make the experience of reading more fun. By bringing the readers to our shelter, our adoptable cats and dogs get to benefit from the positive presence of a child, boosting confidence in both the pet and the person.

New in 2025: To become a Tale for Two Club Member, attend 5 visits in 2025 and receive an educational, animal chapter book. We look forward to seeing you soon!
