YVCHR Volunteer Project – Earth Day at the Butterfly Garden at Saunders Elementary School (Newport News)

In honor of Earth Day, we’re going to give the butterfly garden at Saunders Elementary some TLC! Youth will install a weed barrier, spread mulch, install host/nectar plants for pollinators. Youth will need sunscreen, a water bottle, and garden gloves; please bring a metal rake and/or pitch fork if you have one (label with your name so tools don’t get mixed up!).
Location: Butterfly Garden @ Saunders Elementary School (NOTE: Pick-up and drop-off will take place at All Nations Church, located behind the school.)
Details: Youth will install a weed barrier, spread mulch, and install host/nectar plants for pollinators. Youth Needed: 12
Special Considerations: Youth must wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes.
