HRCA’s annual School Chess Championship tournament is happening on “Star Wars Day” – May 4th!
We are hoping to see at least 200 chess Jedis and apprentices in this event.
Open to youth in grades Pre-K through 12th attending any public, private, or homeschool in Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Norfolk, Suffolk, Virginia Beach, Hampton, or Newport News. Players in “outlying areas” of Hampton Roads, please contact us at [email protected] to inquire about potential participation. You do not need to be a member of a school chess team to participate – Individuals welcome!
We encourage players of ALL abilities to come out and play in this event! From the youngest chess Padawan (beginner) to the highest rated teenager chess Jedi Master, there is a place for you! Rated players need not worry about their regular rating being affected, as the time control is “Quick only.”
Entry Fee: $35 (increases to $40 on 4/28)
