Description:  On Saturday, March 23rd, the Military Aviation Museum will be celebrating National Rosie the Riveter Day with activities for the whole family. Craft activities to create Rosie-themed memorabilia, crafts & badges. Learn about Victory Gardens and plant your own to take home. Plus don’t miss the lessons with real Airplane Mechanics as well as hands-on riveting demonstrations. There will be a special docent tour to learn about the planes that Rosies helped build and the factories that produced them, as well as highlighting exhibits related to women’s contributions during wartime.

Rosie the Riveter Day Military Aviation Museum

All Day Activities

  • Welcome and Introduction
  • Greet attendees at check-in and provide an overview of the day’s activities.
  • Brief history of Rosie the Riveter and the impact of WWII on the local communities and the diverse roles women played.

Rosie Inspired Craft Corner

  • Located on the Mezzanine
  • Craft activities for participants to create Rosie-themed memorabilia.
  • Provide materials for making Rosie-style crafts, badges, etc.
  • Incorporate elements related to local victory gardens and home-front efforts.
  • Showcase local materials and resources used during wartime crafting

Artifact Showcase: Tools of Rosie’s Trade

  • Located on the Mezzanine
  • Display and explanation of the tools Rosie the Riveter used; real rivet gun, rivets, riveted metal samples, and more.
  • Q&A session for participants to ask questions about the tools.
  • Discussion on the roles of women.
  • Display artifacts and memorabilia showcasing women’s contributions during WWII.
  • Q&A session for participants to learn about specific individuals and stories.

Rosie Special Guided Tour

  • Meet at the Compass Rose
  • Learn about the planes that Rosie helped manufacture and the factories that produced them.
  • Guided tour highlighting exhibits related to women’s contributions during wartime.
  • Discussion on the various ways women supported the war effort
  • Showcase artifacts and stories from local residents who played significant roles in supporting the war effort.
