Playdate MeetUps! (Virginia Beach)

My name is Kala and this summer I will be hosting Playdate MeetUps! Our next scheduled playdate is July 29th at City View Park in Virginia Beach.
These playdates are designed for children with special needs and any children learning social skills.
I remember going to parks and being a little overwhelmed, because there were a lot of other children on the playground.
I was concerned about how the boys would interact with others. So what I would do is find parks that had very little children on them so I didn’t have to worry about that. Or I will purposely go to Parks that were school parks because they were less likely to have lots of kids there. Ultimately, I was hindering the Boys social interaction with other kids as well as encouraging them to play alone. So now we go to Parks no matter the size or location and we worked through it. It also has allowed me to educate children and parents about the Autism in the process.❤️
Sometimes we don’t even realize what we are doing !
Things I suggest you bring.
– A lawn/ beach chair
– Water and a snack for your child.
– Dress your child in their play sneakers and play clothes.
– Communication devices
This is an opportunity for your child to socialize and play with other children which can be a struggle for our children. We will try group games together, work on sharing, taking turns,greetings and following directions. Moms and dads be ready to help your child navigate a social outing at the park with support from other parents .
