Cruise the River “Electric” Style! (Virginia Beach)

Departing from REI, we travel to the mouth of the Lafayette River. Electrified Marina, the innovators in the electric boating world, are providing us with two (2) boats with overhead canopies to shade us from the summer sun. Riding peacefully on the river, at only 6 miles per hour, we HOPE we might have dolphins swim along side of our boats (we cannot guarantee wildlife sightings as nature is unpredictable). If very lucky, we might spot a river otter! Binoculars are provided for better viewing of the many types of birds we may see. Along the way, try your hand at “magnet fishing” if you’d like to. You never know what you might pull up! You get to keep what you find. Such a fun way to help clean the river. By the way, feel free to bring your favorite alcoholic beverage (or other refreshing drink) to sip while we float. We’ll then dock + disembark at the BRAND NEW Elizabeth River Project’s Ryan Resilience Lab! This 45-minute guided tour will show off this building with its cutting edge green building practices and systems – floating docks, green roofs, solar arrays, rainwater capture, and much more. Back in the electric boat, we’ll meander back to Electrified Marina for a picnic lunch (pack your lunch). Finally, we head back to your car at REI.
