Foster Care Aware – Information Event

Learn about local foster care and adoption at this FREE community event! Registration Is Required!

When: Saturday, May 20, 2023 from 1-4:30pm

Where: ODU – CONSTANT HALL, 2101 Constant Hall, Norfolk VA

Description: You’re invited to an engaging, informative summit on May 20th that will allow you to attend talks from national and local speakers on topics relevant to all- from the most seasoned foster parent to the community member just dipping their toes in the water.

Speakers include Mary McGowan of ATTACh on the science behind attachment, Barbara Stewart of Made 4 Connection on Trust-based Relational Intervention and Dr Angela Hopkins on her personal experience in the foster care system. A foster parent panel will also be featured so you can gain insight into what really goes on when you open your heart to a child by taking them into your home. We will also have a Q&A session where you can ask all the questions on your mind.
And for the kids we will have face painting, balloon twisting, popcorn, and more as you make your way through the vendor tables to discover local agencies making an impact and how you can get involved.
