Overwhelm is real. We understand how hard it can be to do all the things, and still try and find easy, fun local activities that the whole family can enjoy.

If you are a Military Family you can also add the PCS and Deployment fun to the mix. We understand! MyActiveChild was dreamt up and created in Hampton Roads by a military spouse and mom of 2 active children.

MyActiveChild was born of the frustration of moving to a new place (Hampton Roads) and not knowing what was available for local families with young children.

Whether you’re new to the area, new to being a parent/caregiver, or just want to check out this weekend’s activity calendar, you are in the right place!

We work hard to find all the activities, events and local fun so you can focus on spending those special moments with your family.

The MyActiveChild website is broken down into the following areas:

• MyActiveChild BLOG – Daily posts to the blog give you information on local events, family-focused deals, great community programs, giveaways, and more.

• CALENDAR– Our calendar is HUGE. We have events listed for weeks and often months in advance and new activities are added all the time. To find the calendar for a future date click on the date at the top left corner of the calendar itself. Then just choose which day to view. There are so many things listed each day this is really the best way to list them! Also, our new website has a map view which lets you see where events are happening in relation to others. Want to add a family-friendly event to the calendar? You can do that here.

• ACTIVITIES – Listings of local activities for kids broken down by city, and then by topic. Under each city (or select All Locations!) you will find the different activity, classes or programs broken down by topic. Find acting classes, music lessons, summer camps and more in our activity listings! Are we missing a local business that fits one of these categories? Please suggest the business to our listings here.

• ATHLETICS –  Athletic lessons, competitive teams, clubs and sports clinics in the #757 area. Under each city (or select All Locations!) you will find the different sports programs broken down by topic (lacrosse, soccer, swimming, etc). Are we missing a local business that fits one of these categories? • BIG LISTS – Our seasonal BIG LISTS are where you will find Summer Camps, Pumpkin Patches, U-Pick Strawberry farms, Easter Egg Hunts, Fall Festivals and more. Plus, roundups of upcoming Homeschool Events, Consignment Sales, Outdoor Movie Nights and more!

• RESOURCES – Here you will find listings of information designed to be helpful for local parents!
