DESCRIPTION:Take a 4-hour guided tour through Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge and False Cape State Park! Spot Summer wildlife from the Blue Goose Tram and learn the history of this spectacular area. Plus\, enjoy a 1-mile round trip guided hike through pristine maritime forest to the historic Wash Woods church and cemetery site. The hike is suitable for most skill levels\, however the trail features some sandy portions and elevation. This trail is rated as “easy” difficulty. Please note\, the tram does not transport campers. \nCost is $8 per person. There is a $5 entrance fee for Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge per car. Reservations are required.

DESCRIPTION:Join us as we celebrate the incredible Animal Care team who provide exceptional care for the Virginia Living Museum’s animals every day. \nThroughout the week\, guests are invited to help recognize the dedication\, knowledge\, and compassion of our keepers while learning more about the important work they do behind the scenes. \nKeeper Olympics\nTuesday\, July 21 & Wednesday\, July 22\n2:00 PM\nConservation Lawn \nOur keepers are trading their daily routines for a little friendly competition! Four teams will compete in six zookeeper-themed challenges\, earning points as they battle for the title of Keeper Olympics Champions. \nGrab a spot on the Conservation Lawn and cheer them on! Guests are encouraged to make signs\, wear their favorite team’s colors\, and help create an exciting atmosphere as our Animal Care team goes head-to-head. \nLeave a Note of Thanks\nThroughout the week\, stop by the appreciation banner located on the Lower Level of the Main Building to leave a note of encouragement or gratitude for our Animal Care team. Your messages are a wonderful way to thank the people who work every day to provide outstanding care for the Museum’s animals. \nCome help us celebrate the dedicated professionals who make caring for wildlife their life’s work.

Come meet the VCE Master Gardeners who plant\, tend\, and educate in the park every Wednesday and create a sensory garden for children of all ages to enjoy!\nOpen Garden Days are the fourth Wednesday of the month during the growing season. Stop and meet us\, tour the gardens\, pull a weed\, and learn what we’re growing and why.\nDates are subject to change\, especially in case of bad weather. If a date is cancelled\, or you can’t make one of the scheduled dates\, stop by any time you see us.
