An inspiration and hero\, she broke down racial barriers in the 1960s. The Mary Helen Thomas Water Safety Council is honoring her memory by offering a free learn to swim day for youth ages 4 – 12. Swim lesson scholarships and other prizes will be raffled off at each site.  \nSign up for a free water safety lesson before June 1\, 2026. The event is free and open to the public.
