DESCRIPTION:Unfortunately\, the MacArthur Center will be closing later this year. Our lease will be up on June 27. So we will be in the process of moving almost everything into storage until we can find a new location. This website and our monthly newsletters will continue to provide information for you as time goes on. Beginning in May you will see some of our displays being taken down and removed. \nHowever\, we are not going to disappear! We are establishing a small store and a few displays at a temporary location until we can find a more permanent place. So you can still come and visit us beginning on July 1st in Virginia Beach! \nHours of Operation\nWe will remain open to the public on Fridays\, Saturdays and Sundays\, from 12-6 PM\, so you can watch while the Museum is being developed. We will continue to have trains running on several different layouts. Admission is free. \nThe Museum Store is now open. We currently have brand items like T-shirts\, sweatshirts\, hoodies\, mugs and water bottles. We are current stocking shelves with pre-owned N scale railcars and locomotives\, which we can test before you buy. A book written by our own historian Warren Leister on The Birth of Virginia Beach is also for sale. We are slowly adding more items. We can order almost any model railroad gear\, scenery or train set in any gauge that you want. All proceeds over expenses go back into the Museum. SUMMARY:Swim Clinic: Starts Turns Finishes at Seatack Recreation Center (Virginia Beach)
DESCRIPTION:These clinics are for participants interested in improving their stroke techniques. Participants must be comfortable swimming one length of the pool (25 meters/yards) demonstrating some knowledge of the specified stroke and a rhythmic breathing pattern. Additionally\, swimmers must be comfortable swimming in deep water. A Recreation Center Membership or day pass is required for participation.\nFreestyle Prerequisites: Demonstrates a good front crawl stroke with rhythmic breaths.Backstroke Prerequisite: Demonstrates a good back crawl stroke and face is out of the water.Breaststroke Prerequisite: Demonstrates some form of frog kick with a pull and breath\, kick and glide pattern.Butterfly Prerequisite: Demonstrates a dolphin kick and simultaneous arm movement.Starts\, Turns\, and Finishes Prerequisite: Demonstrates some knowledge of all four competitive strokes (freestyle\, backstroke\, butterfly\, and breaststroke).Individual Medley Prerequisite: Please note: This clinic will work on the transition between each stroke in the event. Demonstrates some knowledge of all four competitive strokes (freestyle\, backstroke\, breaststroke\, and butterfly).Swim League Prep Prerequisite: Participants must have knowledge of front crawl with rhythmic breathing and back crawl and be comfortable in deep water.Note: The prerequisites cover the necessary swimming skills and knowledge required\, ensuring participants are adequately prepared for the clinic’s focus on the specific aspects of competitive swimming.
