YVCHR Volunteer Project – Fresh Food Wednesday (Virginia Beach)

Location: The Gathering at Scott Memorial UMC
Details: Youth will be helping to distribute groceries to those experiencing food insecurity in the local neighborhood. Youth will be helping with placing food boxes and bags into parked vehicles, traffic direction, data intake and greeting. Afterward, youth will help to clean up the space.
Special Considerations: Dress in weather-appropriate clothing (this is a rain-or-shine event); high school students will volunteer outdoors and middle school volunteers will be indoors. Priority will be given to youth living on the Southside.
Organization being served: The Gathering at Scott Memorial Church is the only fresh food pantry in the Virginia Beach area that is open to the public after working hours. They serve the working poor and are helping an average of 300 households per week.
