SwAY it with Music at St. Luke’s Historic Church & Museum (Smithfield)

The Virginia Handbell Consort: Formed in the fall of 1996, the Virginia Handbell Consort became the first community handbell ensemble in the Hampton Roads area. Our auditioned musicians perform on a variety of instruments:
- 6+ octaves of Schulmerich handbells
- 6+ octaves of Malmark handchimes
- 3 octaves of Petit and Fritzen handbells
- Orchestral chimes, gongs, cajon and a variety of other percussion instruments
“SwAY It With Music” this springs’ concert title, showcases how music is used to express our emotions. Our program includes music written to pray for peace and reconciliation, music written to share in enjoyment of a beautiful day, and music that entices us to dance with sheer happiness. Join Virginia Handbell Consort in exploring our musical heritage and see if you don’t leave the concert wanting to dance!
