Spring Walk & Talk at New Quarter Park (York County)

May 6, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

5/6 – BATTLE OF WILLIAMSBURG – You have heard of the battle that took place outside New Quarter Park and how it ended, but have you ever had the opportunity to hear first-hand accounts? Join us as an Infantry Regiment from the 33rd NY Army shares his experience on the battlefield near the Custis Farm field hospital. Afterward, stay for a chance to see a showcasing of the medical gear that was available to help the injured soldiers at the field hospitals. Open to all ages. **FREE

6/17 – SNAKES – We see them in our parks, around our homes, and even by the water, but how much do you know about them? Join us to learn more about the snakes that call New Quarter Park home. Led by Mr. Christenson, a local biologist working with Ft. Eustis, we will explore New Quarter and learn about these gentle hunters that play a crucial role in our park’s ecosystem. The program will start on the basketball courts by the park office. Open to all ages. **FREE

6/24 – FOSSILS – How much do you know about your home’s past? Do you know what is under your feet in the ground? Join us as we explore these questions for a special program through New Quarter Park. Learn about the park’s history before humans even arrived in the area! You will not want to miss this exciting opportunity to see real fossils from life back before the Chesapeake Bay even existed! Led by Dr. Lockwood of William & Mary, you and your family will not be able to look at New Quarter Park the same way ever again. Open to all ages.
