Sounds of Summer Concert Series with The Band of Oz at Riverwalk Landing (Yorktown)

May 29 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Great music? Check! Great venue? Check! Great crowd? Check! The Sounds of Summer Concert Series is the ideal way to spend your Thursday evening! Join us all summer long for free outdoor concerts by the beautiful York River.
Yorktown’s Sounds of Summer concert series runs Thursday nights from 6:30 to 9 p.m. through August 14. We’ve got bands playing beach music, country, jazz, R&B, popular hits, and so much more!

We’re bringing back The Band of Oz! In 1967, The Band of Oz was formed, and in 1976, the band went on the road full time. They perform everything from beach music, Jimmy Buffett, and Motown. Since its creation, the band has made a name for itself throughout the Southeast. They usually headline or play all the major Beach Music festivals in the south. The band’s first recording was “Shaggin” which is still a Beach Music favorite. In 1982, the band was named “Best Group” at the Beach Music Awards, and their song “Ocean Blvd.” was voted “Best Beach” record of the year. At the 1995 CAMMY’s, “Let It Roll” became album of the year.

Before the entertainment begins, visitors are encouraged to arrive early and enjoy dinner or dessert at any of Historic Yorktown’s waterfront restaurants including Water Street Grille, Carrot Tree, Umi Sushi, Ben & Jerry’s, and Yorktown Pub.

Guests are permitted to bring their own blankets, chairs, and small coolers. No tables, umbrellas, or tents are allowed. There will be a dance floor, friendly games of corn hole, and tasty, to-go meals from rotating food trucks available for purchase.

Free parking is available at designated public parking lots throughout town, including York Hall, York-Poquoson Courthouse, and County Administration Building. The complimentary, wheelchair-accessible Yorktown Trolley runs from 5 to 9:30 p.m. during every concert with a modified route that still includes some of the stops on the outskirts of town.

Food Trucks:*

Coastal Thirst Beach Deli
Pop’s Kettle Corn
