Investigation Nature: Bark & Beyond (Virginia Beach)

December 14 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

$10
Join us for an enlightening and creative nature-based program this December as we delve into the fascinating world of trees. In this special winter session, we will focus on the art of identifying trees by their bark, a skill that becomes particularly handy when leaves have fallen. Our program includes an informative session where you’ll learn about the unique characteristics of different tree barks, including both deciduous and evergreen species.

Following the info session, we’ll embark on a guided walk through a nearby wooded area, putting your new identification skills to the test. You’ll have the opportunity to observe and identify various trees in their winter state, guided by our knowledgeable naturalist.

To wrap up the day, we’ll create a fun and festive craft activity. Using a pinecone and a thin cross-section of a log, also known as a tree cookie, you’ll create your own unique holiday keepsake!
