ED Talk: The Metaphysics of Videogames and the Good Life at Nauticus (Norfolk)

March 18, 2023 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Visit Nauticus on Saturday, March 18th from 12 -12:45 p.m. to hear from Dr. Andrew Kissel, Assistant Professor of Philosophy and Religious Studies at Old Dominion University. Dr. Kissel will give an ED Talk on The Metaphysics of Videogames and the Good Life.
What is a game? For many people, games are harmless diversions that allow you to pass the time. But for philosophers, games are serious business. In this talk, Dr. Kissel surveys approaches to the metaphysics of games drawn from contemporary philosophy. As it turns out, some videogames are neither video NOR games! But when they are games, they are essential components of the primary purpose of human life.
Talk included in Nauticus’ General Admission.
