Conserving and Commemorating the Great Dismal Swamp (Chesapeake)
January 30 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm
FreePublic Humanities Fellow Perri Meldon will explore what became of the Great Dismal Swamp after 1865.
What decisions did Black, white, and Native farmers, landowners, hunters, and lumbermen make that shaped the vitality of this wetland? Meldon invites attendees to reflect on the swamp’s cultural and environmental stories.
