Colors Ceremony and Flags Out (Virginia Beach)
May 24 @ 7:30 am - 12:00 pm
Each year, in conjunction with Memorial Day weekend, VFW Post 392 and our Auxiliary conduct at Colors Ceremony on the Saturday morning prior to Memorial Day. We ask that you arrive at the Post by 0745 as the Colors will be raised at 0800.
Immediately following Colors, teams of Post, Auxiliary, NJROTC, Active Duty, and other volunteers proceed to five different local cemeteries where their mission is to place flags at the graves of every veteran within the cemetery.
This is a labor-intensive mission, involving the placement of over 5,000 flags, but it is a labor of love and respect for our departed veterans. As such, we need as many volunteers as possible to support this mission. The more volunteers we have, the faster and easier this mission is to complete. This is a family friendly event of Community Service, so bring the kids to help! Please volunteer a few hours for this event and give back to our departed brothers and sisters.
Lunch is provided upon return to the Post for all those that participate. If you have questions, please contact a Post Officer.
