Colonial Espionage: Secrets, Spies, and Ciphers at the Thoroughgood House (Virginia Beach)

While our daily tours give visitors a good overview of life on the Thoroughgood property, our weekly summer Focus Tours provide a deeper dive into specific areas of interest. Please click on the individual tour titles below for a detailed description of that week’s offering.

All 2024 Focus Tours are FREE and appropriate for all ages. 

Someone’s keeping secrets in Hampton Roads! Immerse yourself in ciphers and codes as you learn about some of the key figures and the various ways important information was passed by both sides during the Revolutionary War. Make your own coding device to keep your secrets safe.

6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. – in 30 minute time slots. Please arrive no less than 5 minutes prior to your selected tour time.

Advanced registration is highly encouraged but walkups are welcome!
