CHKD Parent Class – Speaking the Same Language: Gender Identity and Sexual Orientation (Online)

October 5 @ 6:30 pm

Understand the current climate and experiences for youth and young adults, who identify as LBGTQ. It can be challenging for them and confusing for us. As parents, providers, and educators let’s learn the language and how to open the door to conversations that are supportive and respectful of all experiences.

Presenter: Mary Katherine Tate “Kit” is a Chaplain at Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters where she provides spiritual help, supportive counseling and compassionate care to CHKD patients and families of all faiths, religions and cultures. She is a member of the CHKD Diversity, Equity and Inclusion workgroup, and the CHKD Safe Zone workgroup, where she trains CHKD healthcare providers and specialty practices to provide safe and equitable care to LGBTQ youth. She received her Master’s in Education from University of Florida, and her Certificate in Inner Religious studies at The Graduate Theological Union in Berkley, California. She has presented to and provide training for healthcare providers and educators locally with Chesapeake Public Schools, and nationally at Texas Children’s Hospital, and The National Pediatric Hematology Oncology Social Work conference.

This webinar will not be recorded. You must attend live to participate, to receive a certificate and to be entered in to the book raffle.
