After-Hours Party at the 41st Annual Stockley Gardens Spring Arts Festival (Norfolk)
May 17 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
FreeYou’re Invited to the After-Hours Party at the 41st Annual Stockley Gardens Spring Arts Festival! Join us on Saturday, May 17th, from 5–7 PM for an unforgettable evening as The James Henry Morgan Gang takes the stage.
From the heart of the 7Cities that span Coastal Virginia and Northeast North Carolina, The James Henry Morgan Gang (JHMG) rides the sonic waves of Blues, R&B, and Jazz — with detours into Psychedelic Investigations of the 4th Kind — all grounded on a solid Rock and Roll foundation.
At the helm is James (Jay) Morgan on lead guitar and vocals, crafting original songs that fuse Rock, Blues, and Funky Jam into a tapestry of soulful storytelling and electrifying instrumental interplay. Alongside him, Jessie Huard and Gillian Morgan lend their powerhouse harmonies, stepping into the spotlight when the moment demands an extra splash of energy and soul.
On keys, the legendary John (Bubba) Wilkins — who’s shared the stage with the likes of Bonnie Raitt — weaves melodies with effortless flair and a touch of sass. Holding down the groove is Paul Jarman on bass, delivering a robust low end that keeps feet stomping and heads bobbing. On drums, Andy Rexroat drives the pulse, while Eric Talley on hand percussion adds rhythmic textures that elevate the band’s sound to new heights.
Together, JHMG serves up a dynamic mix of Jay’s originals and a carefully curated selection of genre-spanning covers, infused with spontaneous improvisation and undeniable chemistry. Each performance is a journey — a celebration of musical freedom and joyful exploration.
Prepare to dance, sway, and get lost in the groove — because when The James Henry Morgan Gang takes the stage, the ride is unforgettable.
This FREE, open-to-the-public event is the perfect way to cap off your day at the festival. Grab your friends, enjoy some great music, and sip on a refreshing adult beverage—available for purchase onsite.
