This weekend is all about reptiles at The Virginia Living Museum! Their weekend event "Reptiles! Bizarre & Beautiful" runs Saturday through Monday.
Children's activities, live animal presentations and exhibits are just some of the fun planned. See a wide variety of native and exotic reptiles on display and in live animal programs. Reptiles are perhaps the most misunderstood and most feared creatures on earth, but the VLM staff wants the public to see their fascinating and attractive aspects.
You will find exhibits from:
- Reptile Education of Virginia
- Sandy Bottom Nature Park
- Virginia Herpetological Society
- Wildlife Response, Inc.
- The Virginia Aquarium Stranding Response Team
Learn about the museum’s citizen science projects such as FrogWatch and Turtle Census. See the differences between venomous and nonvenomous reptiles. There will also be crafts for kids and special planetarium programs. Behind-the-scenes tours of Herpetology areas will be offered at 3 p.m. (additional fee). Sponsored by Cricket Wireless.
Where: Virginia Living Museum, 524 J. Clyde Morris Blvd., Newport News, VA 23601
When: February 13-15, 2016. Special event programming from 11am-4pm each day.
Cost: Most activities and exhibits are included in Museum admission (planetarium programs and Herpetology tours are an additional fee).
